Tea Party Birthday Ideas

Making Little Girls Dreams Come True.

How many times does your little girl sit and play pretend tea party with her Teddies and Dollies or even you and their brothers and sisters, you all have to sit and drink pretend tea and eat pretend sandwiches.

And how many of their friends are doing the same thing in their homes, why not allow them to do this together and instead of it being pretend let them really eat sandwiches and cakes.

Having a Tea Party for your daughters Birthday Party can be great fun from start to finish. All little girls love to dress up and play at being Grown Up.

I have put together a few ideas for hosting a Tea Party for your daughters, nieces, grandaughters Birthday Party.

Planning Your Party.

Try to plan your party about 6-8 weeks before the day as this will give you plenty of time to prepare and the children that you invite time to reply.

Decide on the date, time and location of your party, the date should be easy you’ll want on if not close to your childs birthday, you may just need to decide if you want a weekend party or after school.

The location may only become a problem when your daughter wants to invite everyone they know to the party. Hosting the party at home is a great option as it saves you money as you don’t need to rent another venue and also your child and their friends are in an environment that they (and you)feel comfortable in.

I would suggest that you have your tea party in the garden if you are lucky to have one big enough, I also know of people who have used the local park not only is it free there is plenty for the kids to do and once you’ve thrown the garbage away, you can return to a home that was as clean as you left it.

Plan if your going to make or sending fun and unique invitations can get most little girls excited and get them in the mood for a party.
Buy some pink card or any pastel color and draw a tea pot or find one online, cut it out and write the details of the party on the main part of the pot.

Purchase some white doilies that are solid in the middle and write the party details in the middle of this, you can the put them into regular envelopes to send to your friends.

Invite little girls (and Boys) their Dollies/Teddies and Moms and ask Grandmas and Aunts to help.

You need to ask yourself What do I need for My Tea Party ?
You’ll need the basic party supplies, Paper Tableware, napkins, plates, cups, cutlery. As well as Balloons, tablecloth, streamers and decorations, everything will look even better if you keep to a theme.

You can also add extra items to add to your Tea Party Theme you may need to hire or buy teapots, cups and saucers, tables and chairs.

As we know all children love to dress up so whilst you are planning your Birthday Party you may want to think about costume ideas, you could ask all the children that you invite to come in their best dresses or fancy dress costumes, fairies and princesses always goes down well.

I found some feather boa’s, sparkly tiaras amd jewelry in the dollar store and bought enough for everyone so they could dress up when they arrived and they took them home as part of their goody bag too.

You will also need to plan your Tea Party food, A Cake, Games.

Decorations & Food Ideas.

So you’ve sent out the invites, got the replies and your chosen theme is a Tea Party I would suggest that when you have found the napkins, plates and tablecloth you want to use that you pick a color if their is more than one out of that to use for your decorations.

Get some streamers for example you got pink and lilac and twist them together and hang them from the ceiling or use them to frame the doors and windows.
Buy some Pastel colored balloons and fill them with helium, tie 2-3 together and attach them to the handles of cups, teapots, milk jugs, around the room to give the room some height. (the kids can take a balloon home at the end of the party.

Have some pretty flowers around the room, the room will smell lovely and the girls will feel very grown up.

If you’ve decide to have the party in the garden and you haven’t got a table and chairs big enough for the children you could always place a pretty quilt or blanket on the floor, throw some scatter cushions or beanbags and allow the children to sit on this to eat and drink, they can also use this whilst you prepare the tea for a tea party with their dollies/teddies.

Tea Party Food
There will be no Pizzas and Hamburgers at this Tea Party, make them feel elegant and grown up with some posh nosh.

Here are some Ideas.

Finger Sandwiches a must at any Tea Party, fill with your childs favorites as well as cucumber and cream cheese, peanutbutter and jelly, smoked salmon, ham and cheese and remember to cut off the crusts.

Shaped Snacks Purchase some cookie cutters in the shape of flowers, teddy bears anything relevant to your theme, and use them to cut out some cheese, ham anything you can serve on crackers.

Sausage Rolls are always great to serve at a tea party or little sausages on sticks, anything that the kids can eat using their fingers.

Fairy Cakes You can make Fairy Cakes before the children arrive and then allow them to decorate their own with different colored frostings and candies.

As well as serving Tea at your Tea Party you could also serve Pink Lemonade or make a fruit punch, serve in some pastel colored glasses, or plastic wine glasses.

And lets not forget the Birthday Cake this is the most important part of the food side of the party.

There are lots of fabulous cakes out there that you can purchase from your local store or even from specialists suppilers, but how satisfying can it be seeing your little one and all of their friends face’s light up when you bring in a cake that you’ve made yourself.

Here are a few examples that I have found..

Every little Girl will love this Daisy Cake that you can decorate in your favourite colors.

Having a Giant Cupcake will bring a smile to anyones face, you could decorate it wil smaller cupcakes too.

How fab to have a party where you dress up and your cake is an accesseory too.

Tea Party Games and Activity Ideas
Whenever you host a childs Birthday Party you will always need to organise some Party Games. And your Tea Party will be no different, you may not think so but there are so many games you can play at your party and here are a few ideas to get you started.

The Dressing Up Race Every little girl loves to dress up, so dressing up game will be fun too, place piles of clothes, shoes etc enough for each child ( or put them in teams ) and they have to race to the clothes and put them all on the winner is the first girl (team) to have all the clothes on.

Make your own Party Hat Purchase some plain hats and get some ribbon, jewels, feathers, buttons, flowers (anything hanging around grannies house) and then with some glue let the children decorate the hats, give a prize for the best decorated hat.

Edible Jewellery Buy some Liquorice strings, candies, or cereals that you can thread over the strings and allow the children to be creative and make what ever they desire.
