Kids Juicing Recipes

We have recently bought a Bosch Juicer admittedly it is the 2nd juicer we have owned our 1st was a Breville which was very good but after much wear and tear we needed to replace it…

We use our juicer once if not twice a day, first thing in the morning we have a green juice, which mainly consists of vegetables with a little fruit to sweeten, and the later in the day we may have another green juice or a fruit based one my favourite is Orange, Carrot and ginger.

Owning a juicer will benefit your whole family, I have struggled for years to get my son to eat fruit and vegetables

But give him a glass of fresh juice he’ll drink it no problem… Not only is he getting probably more than his 5 a day everything is still raw so he is getting all the minerals and vitamins.

I don’t always follow a recipe when juicing I go with the basics but then add a little more if needed, I like to try and use seasonal produce when possible. Sometimes I find the yield is not enough as some fruit have more juice and some vegetables contain a lot of water and some don’t.

We also do not peel all of our fruit or vegetables it’s dependent on the toughness of the skin, just wash everything first and chop into small pieces so not to jam the machine.

I stop and start my machine as I fill the shoot so I don’t get splattering’s of fruit and veg all up the wall / cupboards or ceiling and also I find it does not over work the motor if you are making a lot of juice. But you can always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

One of the many things I love about Juicing is that you can use up most things in your fridge and add it to a juice. Also juicing does not have to be overly expensive as you can purchase some fruits and vegetables when they have almost come to the end of their shelf life in the supermarket or are a little battered and bruised as this will not really affect your juicing.

As I said our morning Juice is a Green Juice (Not always the kids favourite as it has quite an acquired taste but the more they and you try it the more you’ll drink it) My husband always looks at our juices as though they are medicine and drinks them no matter how they taste. And I suppose he is right all the juices are healthy and good for you.

Our Green Juice consists of:-

1 Head of Celery
1 Lemon
2 Cucumbers
1 Apple
1 Pear
¼ Head Cabbage
½ bag Kale/Spinach
Large knob Fresh Ginger
½ Green Pepper (no seeds)

All of the ingredients are washed and then chopped and placed in the juicer it only takes a few minutes until you have a glass of juice, chill with some ice and enjoy.

Orange Carrot & Ginger

For this juice you’ll need

2 Oranges
2 Large Carrots
1 Knob of Fresh Ginger

Yes that’s all that is needed again wash everything chop into chunks and add to the juicer, add more dependent on how many people you are making juice for, you will only need a small glass of this as it is a powerful pick me up.

Spiced Apple Juice

This is great for those cold days when you fancy a warming fresh juice you will need

2 Apples
2 Sticks of Celery
1 Knob Fresh Ginger
1 Pinch of Cinnamon
1 Pinch of Nutmeg
1 Pinch Turmeric

Juice up the apples, celery and ginger pour into a glass and then add the spices.
