Melting Cheese Dip

1 Garlic Clove, Finely chopped

150ml Dry White Wine

150g Gruyere Cheese

1 Tsp Cornstarch (Cornflour)

1 Tbsp Kirsch (Optional)

Salt & Pepper


Bread or Chorizo Cubes to serve





Serves 2

Preparation: 3 Minutes                                                                                                    Cooking Time: 7 Minutes

  1. Place the garlic and wine in a small pan and bring to the boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes.


  2. Coarsely grate the cheese and stir it into the wine, continue to stir as the cheese melts.


  3. Blend the cornstarch to a smooth paste with the kirsch (or water if not using) and pour into the pan, stirring.


  4. Bring the pan to the boil, stirring continuously until the sauce is smooth and thickened.


  5. Add the salt & pepper to taste and serve immediately in heated bowls.


Variations: You could serve this in a fondue pan which has a spirit burner to keep it hot, and makes it more fun to eat with friends & family.
