Rye Bread Recipe

When I first baked this Rye Bread Recipe I was quite surprised how light the bread was the texture is smooth and the color is light golden not as dark as many rye loafs I had tried before.

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cups Rye Flour

1 1/2 Cups Strong White Bread Flour

1 Tbsp Black Treacle

Water (Check with your manual to see if your Machine requires Warm or Cold Water)

2 Tbsp Oil

1 1/2 Tsp Salt

1 Tbsp Soft Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp Aniseeds

1 1/2 Tsp Instant or Fast Acting Dried Yeast

Method

Thoroughly mix together the two flours.

Put the treacle into a measuring cup and top up with enough water to make 1 1/4 Cups.

Pour into the bread maker bucket, then add the oil and half the mixed flour.

Sprinkle with the salt, sugar and aniseeds.

Cover with the remaining flour mix and mound the yeast into the center.

Fit the bucket into the bread maker and set to the rapid program.

When ready, carefully shake out the loaf on to wire cooling rack.
