Meatball Recipe
Fried Lamb Meatballs

This Fried Lamb Meatball Recipe is so quick and easy to make it is great served with pitta bread, salad and Sour Cream.

Kids love to get messy and make the meatballs.

Fried Lamb Meatballs

2 Medium slices of bread, crusts removed

500g Minced (ground) lamb

1 Onion

1 Tsp dried Thyme and Oregano

3 Tbsp Chopped Flat Leaf Parsley (extra for serving)

1 Egg, lightly beaten

Salt & Pepper

Lemon Wedges, to serve

For Frying

25g Plain Flour (all purpose)

2-3 Tbsp Vegetable Oil

Serves 4

Preparation 10-15 Minutes

Cooking 5 Minutes

Soak the slices of bread in a shallow bowl of water for 5 minutes.

While the bread is soaking, grate or very finely chop the onion.

Drain the bread, using clean hands, squeeze it dry and put it in a large bowl.

Add the meat, onion, dried herbs, parsley, egg, salt & pepper to the bread.

Mix together using your hands, until well blended.

Shape the meat mixture into individual balls about the size of a walnut, and roll them in the flour to give them a light dusting, shaking off any excess coating.

Heat the oil in a large frying pan, when its hot, add the meatballs and fry for about 5 minutes, turning them frequently, until they are cooked through and look crisp and brown.

Using a slotted spoon, lift out the meatballs and drain on a double sheet of kitchen paper, to get rid of any excess oil. Sprinkle with the remaining chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
