How to Slice an Onion

This is a cooking skill that is really worth learning. Using this quick technique will enable you to slice onions quickly, safely and efficiently.

It is especially useful when cutting larger quantities of onions.

Start by cutting both ends off the onion, then peel and cut in half. Remove the core of the onion so that pieces fall away after they are cut.

Angle your knife and slice the onion from the core to the opposite end. Lay the last part of the onion down on it's side for more stability.

Using this technique you can cut strips as thin or as thick as you like.
