Different Types of Pasta

I believe there are over 650 different types of Pasta Shapes, everyone has their favorites. You don't have to stick to the same types of pasta every time you cook a dish.

If you see a new variation in your local store and fancy trying it, don't be scared, that the kids or family won't like it.

I know many of my friends only by the pasta bows because its the only one their kids will eat.

I have compiled a list of some of the most popular types of pasta.

Bucatini :- A thick, hollow spaghetti-shaped pasta.

Cannolicchi:- Short tubes with wide grooves on the outside.

Capelli d'angelo(Angel Hair):- Fine egg pasta cut into light golden strands.

Cellentani :- Short, narrow pasta tubes shaped like a corkscrew.

Conchiglie :- 'Seashells' good for cupping sauces and the large version can be stuffed.

Farfalle :- Pasta Bows.

Fusilli :- Small twisted shaped.

Lasgana Sheets :- Flat Sheets of pasta.

Maccheroni :- Small straight ended pasta.

Rigatoni :- Is a slightly bigger version Maccheroni which is ribbed.

Pappardelle :- Extra wide Tagliatelle.

Penne :- These tubes are either smooth or ribbed.

Spaghetti :- This is an original classic and the most popular.

Linguine :- Long and thin like spaghetti but flattened.

Tagliatelle :- Flat ribbons.
