Many young children love to go to Granny's because she has baked lots of cakes and goodies. How exciting would it be to go to Granny's with a cake that they have baked.
Kids enjoy cooking and not only can it be a great bonding experience for you and your child, you are teaching them a skill for life.
I always find that getting your
Kids in the Kitchen Cooking
from an early age has great benefits not only for your child but for you as a family, many children will eat something new they have prepared, than if you just serve it up on a plate to them for dinner.Your child will be less likely to be a Picky Eater, if you introduce them to the kitchen when they are young, you'll find that they tend to eat what they cook.
Children also like to show off and love to see what someone else thinks of their cooking, don't we all.. this is great for their self confidence and makes them feel like they have done a good job, which will encourage them to continue cooking with you. She would rather decorate the end result than weigh out the ingredients but she loves to mix it altogether in the bowl and pour it out into the paper liners. Whatever your child prefers to do when you are cooking together is okay you don't want to force them in to doing something they don't want to, as long as they are enjoying taking part in the cooking activities is all that really matters. The more you cook with kids and share your cooking experiences and knowledge the more they will want to take part and cook the whole recipe themselves. Their little faces light up when they get compliments about the dishes they have cooked, this will give them an important sense of satisfaction and self esteem, eventually your child will want to cook more and more. As your child gets older they can learn about science, nutrition also hygiene and not forgetting most importantly
Kitchen Safety,
you can also give them a bit of responsibility by going to the supermarket to buy the ingredients themselves. Don't be scared of letting your child have a go at cooking for themselves as they get older, just be on hand to give advice and supervise them, they are not going to cook a 3 course meal most probably just a sandwich or a pasta dish give them some help with a recipe that is
